Little info about Persian New Years :
The name of this day is Nowruz meaning the new day. We celebrate this every first day of spring.
On the dinner table it is a must to have the seven sin.The seven sin represents the five elements.
2.samanu - a sweet pudding made from wheat germ - symbolizing affluence
3.senjed - the dried fruit of the oleaster tree - symbolizing love
4.sīr - garlic - symbolizing medicine
5.sīb - apples - symbolizing beauty and health
6.somaq - sumac berries - symbolizing (the color of) sunrise
7.serkeh - vinegar - symbolizing age and patience.
We give out money as a gift to the children.
There is so much history about this day and I do not want to write five pages about everything, but I can tell you it is a hell of celebration.
I just wish I was with my family today, because this day is very important to us. But I guess I have to keep on doing my finals instead.
