A Hundred Years With Hooliganism

Soccer, or football as we call it here, is without a doubt Sweden's most popular sport, I seriously don't think any sport can compete with soccer. Soccer is like a religion here and almost every Swedish family like soccer. But the soccer here have one huge problem, hooliganism. This year it's a hundred years ago the first fight appeared on a soccer game in Gothenburg, at a derby between two really popular teams, IFK and ÖIS. When this problem first appeared is went all up to the Swedish government to discuss but now a hundred years later they still haven't found a solution to the problem.

In Sweden and other parts of Europe this is a big problem and it keeps on growing. But the problem now is that the fights are different, before the fights were based on upset fans that were unhappy with the referee or the opposing team, and the referee and the opposing team were the targets. But today it's not the soccer the fights are about it'd just about fans hating each other, and most times they just use soccer as a excuse to fight. This has become so sever that they even got a term for it now - hooliganism. This term did not exist before this started to happen, and it's really going to far!

As a person who loves sport and I am a fan of soccer as well, this upsets me a lot, how can people chose to tarnish such a wonderful sport just for the fun of fighting? And it's not just them selves that gets hurt from this but all the other people there at the game. Just imagine how many first games they must have destroyed for young kids who are there with their families, they fight, scream and shoot flares out in the bleachers.
