A few weeks ago I was offered a position as a peer leader for senior high school students that are attending Berkeley College next quarter.
The program which the students are involved in called “The Bridge Program”. These students attend the class four times per week at Berkeley College's downtown NYC location. The program will sharpen their math, writing, and reading skills, so they can be well prepared for college.
Chad, who also is an excellent tutor, and I encourage these students to focus on their homework and complete assignments. Every Tuesday and Saturday we have new topics to discuss with the students. After the discussion they are to complete their assignments.
Today's the topic focused on how to send a professional E-mail. We spoke with the students to see how many of them are actually using E-mail.
I’m enjoying this job because Chad and I are in working with 12 students, so I get the experience of how to be a leader for a younger audience and at the same time I’m having fun. Matter fact one of the criteria for this job is to make it fun for me and the students.
I can say that I’m surprised how well these kids are behaving. I have always thought that high school students are loud and don’t respect older but these kids proved me wrong!
