After taking one month off from basketball I today decided that I have to go and start my workout routines again.
Reason why I took a month off was because; when you are playing and practicing too much during the season there is no time for your body to rest. I worked out twice every day and had games on the weekends for seven straight months. At the end of the season I remembered how my knees and back was hurting and I wished I could have some time to rest my body.
My coach John told me that even NBA players take a month or even two months off from basketball just so their body can recover and prepare for the next season. Now when I have been recovered I feel much faster, explosive and stronger but taking a month off has also its negative parts. I feel that my handles & shooting are getting weaker, but it is ok because those skills come back really fast since I have been working on them during the season.
I can’t describe how happy I am to play basketball again, I feel like I could lose anyone and still survive but if I lose basketball, my whole life would be over.
