A couple of days ago I told you guys about Gothia Cup, the soccer cup, and yesterday me and some friends went to the official opening ceremony. It’s truly an amazing experience, and if you get the chance to go next year you should definitely go!
It goes on for a couple of hours, and they have famous Swedish singers, dancers from different dance academies around Gothenburg, and a lot of show in it. This year they had singers that’s not famous who sang along with the famous singers, and one of them was my roommate’s brother. It was really fun to see someone I knew there on stage, and hear him sing. He sang a song for Ghana, when they were presented in front of everybody.
Every country gets presented in front of the 50,000 people sitting in the audience, they call their name and some people from the country get the chance to parade up on the stage, and they introduce the countries by continent, so Ghana was the last country up for Africa, and Daniel sang for them.
Last up on stage was the five countries that did the best last year and among them was USA and Norway, the best country from last year was Sweden! It was an amazing feeling hearing all the 50,000 people cheering for my country while they walked out up on the stage to the tunes of “we are the champions”.
After the ceremony is over, they finish off with a firework show, that goes with the music that’s playing in the background.
