During the preseason, NBA teams decides to travel around the globe to play FIBA teams in a way to get ready for the season and at the same time make sure that the NBA is the best league out there in the world.
It all started in 1978 when the Washington Bullets traveled to Israel to play Maccabi Tel Aviv. Funny thing is that the Bullets lost with one point against Tel Aviv. The next year the Bullets traveled to other countries and played, they went to China and Philippine, beating teams in each country. Years after that more NBA teams became aware of the Global games and would take part of it. Today almost every NBA team travel all over the world to play. A very good idea to marketing the NBA in other countries.
