Vaughn vs Berkeley

Tonight the Berkeley Knights hosted Vaughn College at New Rochelle. Last time Berkeley played Vaughn was last season during the HVMAC final four where the Knights won with at least 20 points.

Tonight the Knights went in with the mentality of playing an easy beating Vaughn, like any other year.
Vaughn has been recruiting well this year. They have been recruiting height and speed which is something the Knights have. So this game came to be a close one.

The whole game the Knights and Vaughn changed baskets. Something that the Knight’s coaches did not want to happen. The reason is that when the Knights plays a close game they have a greater chance to lose it at the end but luckily for the Knights they won with only a few points.

Berkeley VS Johnson & Wales University

Tonight Berkeley played their first official game of the season against Johnson & Wales University out in Charlotte North Carolina. Johnson & Wales have a history of staying unbeaten on their home turf. They had an amazingly loud crowd that was cheering for them. The level of the noise in the gym was extreme, every second felt like an hour.

The game was always close until the Wildcats took an eleven point lead and the game seemed as if it was over. But Coach John and Chris took a timeout to set up the system.
Coming out second half changed the whole game. The Knights came out with power and pride fighting back the supporters on the court.
Last few minutes of the game came to be the most important; the Knights were playing tight and changing baskets. The referees had been giving terrible calls towards the knights but that did not stop the knights from winning the game with one point. The crowd went crazy, they could not believe that they just lost their first game on their turf.

Next time the Wildcats might face Berkeley would be in nationals in February.

First Iranian Born Basketball Player Drafted

As you all know the NBA draft has been going on this last week and for some young players the ultimate dream came through.

One player that really made history was the Forward player of the Oregon Ducks Arsalan Kazemi who got drafted by the 7Sixers. With a 9.2 points per game and a total of 912 rebounds throughout his college season leaves him as the number one rebounder in college basketball. Now the reason he made history was because Kazemi is the first Iranian born player who get drafted to the NBA after college.

The first Iranian basketball player in the NBA was Hamed Haddadi who plays for the Memphis Grizzlies, but he did not play college ball before entering the NBA.
Kazemi was one of the last players getting drafted and in my opinion he is an underrated player who will make a big name in the league if he will get the chance.

First Active Gay NBA Player

The NBA is in the middle of the playoffs when the breaking news came out about the first active gay player in the NBA.

Jason Collins, the 12 year veteran came out after the Boston incident and told Sports Illustrated through an essay that he is proud of his sexuality. Today everyone in the basketball world are talking about it. While some think is weird others admires he being brave. Many star players in the NBA have been twittering about how proud they are over Mr. Collins act.
I believe it is great that he has come out with this, what I don’t like is that we live in the 21st century and people are still acting as if this is a weird thing. Gay, straight, bi you name it, it is all about the game and not about the player’s sexuality.

When sport Illustrated asked Collins why he came out with it he answered:

” I didn’t set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport. But since I am, I’m happy to start the conversation. I wish I wasn’t the kid in the classroom raising his hand and saying, “I’m different.” If I had my way, someone else would have already done this. Nobody has, which is why I’m raising my hand.”

"By its nature, my double life has kept me from getting

close to any of my teammates. Early in my career I worked hard at acting straight, but as I got more comfortable in my straight mask it required less effort. In recent days, though, little has separated “mask on, mask off.” Personally, I don’t like to dwell in someone else’s private life, and I hope players and coaches show me the same respect. When I’m with my team I’m all about working hard and winning games. A good teammate supports you no matter what."

That is so true, a good teammate is your family and he or she will support you no matter what!

Lebron X

It was about 10 years ago when Lebron James was the number one pick in the NBA and today he is one of the best players in NBA.

Not only is Lebron an amazing basketball player but also he has amazing basketball shoe collections.
Lebron signed a deal with Nike when he played in Cleveland making him the youngest richest NBA player.
His shoes are pretty good and they are also really expensive compare to the regular Nike basketball shoes. His latest shoes are dedicated for his 10thyear anniversary and they are called Lebron X.
I bought these shoes a few days ago and I have played in them once. The only reasons I bought these is because I had the Lebron 8 and these shoes are very similar to that also I like the colors.

When putting these shoes on first it felt weird because the shoes have the Nike 360 in the sole so my feet where about an inch away from the floor, I thought I was going to fall all the time but after running in them for 30 min then they became conferrable.
These are some heavy shoes so don’t buy these if you want light and fast shoes, these are good for people that want cushion on their knees.
